When you combine two of the best meals known to mankind, you get Taco Pizza. It just had to happen at some point. True there are multiple recipes for “Taco Pizzas” but they are not this one! That means they do not taste like Taco or Pizza, they are somewhere in between and not necessarily in a good way.
This one however, is the one that brings the pizza to the Taco and the Taco to the Pizza. It is super simple to make this recipe, it only takes a few minutes and you are going to be amazed! You can put the same toppings on the Taco Pizza as you would on your Tacos.
There are variations that you could make to make it taste more like either the Taco or the Pizza portion.
Personally, I add a little cornmeal on a buttered pizza pan, and also sprinkle a touch of Garlic Salt on the tray. I end up with a phenomenal tasting pizza crust.
Why not use Pizza Dough?
The Crescent Roll Dough bakes up thinner and flakier, this allows the Taco flavor to be soaked into the crust somewhat and that alone makes the Taco Pizza, however, there is so much more to it. The thin crust resembles the tortilla closer than a pizza dough would.
Do I have to use the refried beans?
You do not have to add the beans, but it will give the Taco Pizza more of an authentic taste. If it helps, add a bit of salsa to the beans, that takes the taste out that so many people dislike.
How do I store the leftovers?
If you have any Taco Pizza remaining, it should be wrapped up in plastic or aluminum foil. You could also place the pizza into an airtight container. It will last for up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
Can I freeze Taco Pizza?
The Taco Pizza can be frozen as long as it is wrapped once it has cooled completely. It should be wrapped in a couple of layers of plastic or aluminum foil. It could also be placed into a freezer safe ziploc bag. It will last for up to 3 months.
