Those nights when you and the significant other, or the whole family sit down to watch a great movie, this is the treat you need to make. Trust me this is not your ordinary Caramel popcorn. This popcorn will last for many days if it is kept in a ziploc bag or airtight container.
This great tasting treat is not going to take you long to make it at all. A few simple ingredients which you already likely have in your pantry. No difficult candy making and watching for certain temperatures or candy stages.
This is a simple recipe for quick treats. This is a treat that can be made ahead of time if you want.
Can I use a different type of nut?
You could but it will not be the same flavor. Pralines are one of the things that makes this popcorn so special.
Can I make this in advance?
You can, it is not hard to make this Southern Praline Popcorn. However, if you can make it and bag it in an airtight ziploc bag, it will be ready for you, when you are ready for it.
Should I keep this popcorn refrigerated?
That is not needed. The Southern Praline popcorn can be kept in an airtight container or in ziploc bags.
Can I add a different flavored extract?
Certainly. Vanilla is the most common, however, there are some that may make this Southern Praline Popcorn taste even better. You could try a Maple extract or even Almond.
Ingredients:
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup butter
¼ cup light corn syrup
2 tsp Vanilla extract
½ tsp Baking Soda
8 cups Popcorn, popped
2 cups Pecans halved
HOW TO MAKE PRALINE POPCORN:
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 250*
Step 2. In a large bowl combine the popcorn and the pecan halves
Step 3. In a large saucepan over medium high heat add in the butter, corn syrup and brown sugar
Step 4. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly
Step 5. Once boiling, remove from the heat and stir in Vanilla extract and baking soda
Step 6. Pour over the popcorn and the pecans, toss to coat
Step 7. Transfer to a baking sheet with a rim and spread out evenly
Step 8. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring about every 10 minutes
Step 9. Immediately spread the popcorn out on parchment paper or aluminum foil to cool off
Step 10. When the popcorn is cooled, break it apart and enjoy!
