Can I eliminate the Horseradish?
I do skip adding the Horseradish once in a while. However, I must say that the Horseradish adds a layer of flavor that just increases the perfectness of this casserole.
How do I store the leftovers?
The food does need to be cooled completely and then wrapped tightly or placed into an airtight container. You can set the food in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Can I freeze this casserole?
When the food has cooled completely, it can be placed into a freezer safe container, and placed into the freezer for up to 3 months.
Ingredients:
3 pounds Beef Stew Meat
2 tsp Garlic, freshly minced
1 large yellow Onion, cut into chunks
3 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
2 tbsp Butter
2 tsp Horseradish
⅛ cup Steak Sauce, I used A1
2 cups Beef Broth
1 pkt French Onion Soup Mix
2 tbsp Cold Water
1 ½ tbsp Cornstarch
8 ounces Mushrooms, sliced
8 ounces egg noodles, cooked, drained and rinsed
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Black Pepper
How to make Homestyle Beef and Noodles:
Step 1. Heat a skillet over medium high heat and add the oil to the skillet
Step 2. Sear the beef stirring to sear all sides
Step 3. Add in the butter and garlic and cook for 1 minute
Step 4. Add the Dijon, horseradish, Steak Sauce, beef broth, onion and French onion Soup mix
Step 5. Season with the salt and pepper
Step 6. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally
Step 7. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 90 minutes
Step 8. In a small dish combine the cold water and cornstarch mixing well
Step 9. Add the mushrooms to the pot along with the noodles
Step 10. Stir in the cornstarch and simmer until the sauce thickens to your liking
Step 11. Serve hot
