Can I use a different variety of meat?
Certainly! If you would prefer to use Chicken, Turkey or Ground Sausage, go ahead. Anything that you can make meatballs with is fair game here.
What sides would pair up with this dish?
I tend to make a side salad or roast a pan of green vegetables. Sometimes I saute up some Kale and Cabbage with bacon bits and onions.
Could I use Elbow Macaroni instead of Bowtie pasta?
That would be a good substitution. You want a pasta that is simple, yet will hold onto the sauce for you also.
Can I make this in advance?
You can make this ahead of time up to the point of baking. If you want to just reheat the dish, go ahead and complete the cooking time and then cover the dish.
How do I store this dish?
Once the food is cooled to room temperature, cover the baking dish tightly and place the dish in the refrigerator. It will last for up to 5 days. You could also freeze the Dump Casserole for up to 4 months.
