WHAT INGREDIENTS YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS CROCK POT PICADILLO:
2 ½ lb lean ground beef
1 C white onion (minced)
1 C red pepper (diced)
1 Tbsp minced garlic
½ C cilantro (minced)
1 small roma tomato (diced)
1 can tomato sauce (8oz)
¼ C green olives
¼ C olive brine
1 ½ tsp ground cumin
¼ tsp garlic powder
2 Bay leaves
¼ tsp smoked paprika
Sea salt to taste
Fresh black pepper to taste
HOW TO MAKE THIS CROCK POT PICADILLO:
Step 1. Using a large deep skittle set on medium-high heat, cook the ground beef.
Step 2. Lightly sprinkle the ground beef with the salt and pepper.
Step 3. While the ground beef is cooking, break up the chunks with a wooden spoon.
Step 4. Drain the juice from the ground beef as it continues to cook and is no longer pink.
Step 5. Slowly add the onion, red pepper, and garlic to the skillet.
Step 6. Continue to cook for 3-4 minutes.
Step 7. Transfer the ingredients in the skillet to the crockpot.
Step 8. Stir to mix.
Step 9. Stir in tomato, tomato sauce, cilantro, and green olive.
Step 10. Pour in 1 ½ cup of water, olives, and ¼ cup of olive brine.
Step 11. Stir to mix well.
Step 12. Add in the ground cumin, garlic powder, bay leaves, smoked paprika.
Step 13. Set aside to cook on High for 3-4 hours.
(If you prefer you can cook it on Low for 6-8 hours.)
Step 14. After cooking for 3-4 hours, do a taste test.
Step 15. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 16. (You may want to also add more cumin, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.)
Step 17. Remove the bay leaves before serving.
