This recipe is for Sloppy Joes, but, these are made with the ingredients of, and will taste like Philly Cheesesteak! Philly Cheesesteak is a combination of beef, provolone cheese and peppers with onions. Of course there are multiple other versions of the recipe, where the ingredients may vary slightly.
Philly Cheesesteaks normally involve thinly sliced steaks, then it is mixed with the other ingredients. This recipe includes ground beef, bell peppers, onion and provolone cheese. I believe that this recipe will surpass your wildest expectations as far as flavor and ease when making these.
The family is going to absolutely love them too. They will enjoy an old favorite with a brand new twist, they may even ask for this meal more often!
Could I use thinly sliced steak rather than ground beef?
You could, however, remember that sloppy joes are a classic that is made with Ground beef. I wanted to stay as close to the original and still turn it into a Philly.
Can I use a different cheese?
Provolone is the cheese most often used in Philly Cheesesteaks. If you do not like provolone, you could use another flavor or style of cheese.
Can this recipe be made in advance?
You could certainly make the major portion of the Philly Style Cheesesteak Sloppy Joe. If making it in advance, do not assemble it on the bun until you are ready to eat.
Can I add mushrooms to the mix with the onion and pepper?
If you prefer mushrooms on your Philly Cheesesteaks, feel free to add them to the mix.
