The classic Patty Melt with a twist. This recipe combines two favorites of millions of people PLUS adds another layer of flavor that is going to drive everyone absolutely wild! A patty Melt is a hamburger patty that is situated in the middle of a grilled cheese sandwich.
However, the patty melt also contains a Secret Sauce. No, it is not the Secret Special Sauce from that fast food location! This one actually tastes much better than that one!
Our Secret Sauce is a touch sweet, a touch savory, includes bacon and no more needs to be said! When you combine all these wonderful flavors on top of a couple slices of Rye bread you will have a meal, whether lunch or dinner that is comforting, filling and loaded with flavor!
The Rye bread is not going to deter anyone from enjoying this meal, because the sauce and the butter will mask any Rye Flavor there is.
Do I have to use Rye bread?
The Rye bread adds a special layer of yum to the meal without realizing it. When the sauce and butter combine and pretend to mask the flavor of the Rye bread, it is really just a whole other unique and tasty flavor combination.
How can I store this Sandwich so the bread does not get soggy?
You should start with an airtight container. I generally place the sandwich in an airtight container and try to be sure to eat them as soon as possible. I know there are some who have placed a paper towel inside the container to pull the moisture away from the sandwich.
How can I reheat the Sandwich to get it crunchy or crisp again?
The best method of this is to lightly fry the sandwich again. The butter that is on the outside of the bread will melt and once again crisp the bread. You could also place the sandwich on a baking tray and place in a preheated oven, flipping the sandwich over to crisp both sides. A toaster oven will work also as long as the sandwich is flipped.
