This recipe is an Old Fashioned Blackberry Cobbler. It is said that the iron skillets heat more evenly than any other pans. This recipe originated years ago when women used Cast Iron cookware all the time, mainly for the quality and also for the way food cooked evenly.
This Blackberry Cobbler can be made to your unique style. Add a mix of berries or change up the topping slightly.
This blackberry cobbler has the most amazing flavor. The cobbler comes out as not only healthy, but also sweet and crunchy. This is the perfect summertime dessert, especially when the Blackberries have just ripened, all that fresh blackberry flavor is unreal.
This also makes a nice addition to parties, potlucks or meetings. Everyone will walk away with big smiles on their faces.
Do I have to use a crust on the bottom as well as the top?
When recipes are stated as versatile, you can basically use your imagination. Normally I would say that you could leave out the bottom crust. Yet, I believe a lot of the great flavor comes from having the double crust on this dessert.
How do I store this cobbler?
The cobbler would be best if kept in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It would be fine on the counter for up to 24 hours, as long as it is covered. In the refrigerator it will last for up to 4 days.
Can I freeze this Blackberry Cobbler?
Once the cobbler has cooled completely. Cover it tightly and place it in the freezer for up to 3 months.
