Welcome to my blog, From Gate to Plate, where I bring our family farm lifestyle to the kitchen table!
Thanks for stopping by and checking me out!! I’m just a 20’s something country girl who loves to get my hands dirty; not only in the kitchen, but in the mud too!! I love to bake and play with my babies, otherwise known as my animals, whenever I get the chance. While growing up on a 200 acre farm, running a cow-calf operation my love continues to grow for the outdoors, mother nature, and animals.
I am also a certified chef with a passion for baking and pastry and with dreams of opening my own restaurant and bakery… one day! After taking a few years off from college once I received my culinary degree and moving to the big, beautiful city of Denver, I decided to move back home to God’s Country a.k.a. Iowa. The city life just wasn’t for me anymore… I missed my animals, the wide open spaces and not to mention–not having neighbors! Once home, I found myself wanting more in my life and since I’m still young why not go back to school?! Now I’m forever a Northwest Bearcat. At the end of 2013 I received my Bachelors degree in Animal Science and Agronomy because even though I have a passion for culinary I wanted to fulfil my other passion… agriculture.
I want to bring my love for culinary and agriculture together in one place! So what you’ll find here are some of my favorite food groups: desserts, comfort food and all things red meat, all prepared primarily from scratch. Of course you can’t forget the excess amount of animals along with all the hard work that goes into running a farm; rising with the sun to feed the livestock before you even think about breakfast for yourself and not laying your head down until the moon is high in the sky, all while working with the challenges mother nature throws at us with each season. I want to share my farm experiences with you! Living off the land… growing fruits and vegetables and raising livestock with the end product being on our plates. My hope is that when you leave this site, a little bit of my everyday life will spark some inspiration in yours.
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting!!
