Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Warm Water
  • 1 pkg Dry active yeast
  • ½ cup Buttermilk
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup granulated Sugar
  • 3 ½ cup Flour All Purpose is fine
  • tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Butter softened
Cinnamon Honey Butter:
  • 4 tbsp Butter softened
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Confectioners Sugar
  • 2 tsp Honey

Method

  1. 1. In a small bowl or cup, place the warm water and stir in the Active Dry Yeast
    2. Let rest
    3. Add the Buttermilk and the milk to a microwave safe bowl
    4. Heat in the microwave until the milks are both warm (it is fine if the buttermilk separates)
    5. Stir 2 tbsp softened butter into the milk
    6. In a larger bowl combine the milk mixture with the yeast, sugar, salt and 1 cup of flour
    7. Using a dough hook, beat on high until the mix is combined and smooth
    8. Add the egg to the bowl and continue to mix
    9. Slowly add the remainder of the four and mix until the dough pulls away from the bowl
    10. Flour the dough with a bit of flour and shape into a ball
    11. Cover the dough and let it rise for one hour
    12. Roll the dough on a floured surface to about a width of ½ inch
    13. Cut the dough into 12 rectangular shaped sections, evenly
    14. Fold the ends of each rectangle under and it will form a roll shape
    15. Place the dough on a pastry mat or parchment covered pan for 20 minutes to rise.
    16. Preheat the oven to 400*
    17. Bake the rolls for 15 minutes or until just lightly browned
    18. Brush the tops with melted butter
    19. In a small bowl combine the ingredients for the Cinnamon Honey Butter
    20. Mix well until they are completely incorporated.

Notes

Should I serve these rolls warm or room temperature?
To enjoy the full force of what these rolls are, they should be eaten right out of the oven. Cool enough to touch, but still hot!
