Philly Cheese steak Sloppy Joes

Sloppy Joes are one of those fun meals that kids and adults alike love to eat. They do get boring when eaten often, so it is time to consider changing up Sloppy Joes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ onion chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 6 slices Provolone Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 6 Buns

Method
 

  1. 1. Place the butter, ground beef, green pepper and onion in a skillet over medium high heat
    2. Crumble the ground beef as you are cooking it,
    3. Cook until the beef is no longer pink
    4. Drain the excess grease
    5. Whisk together the beef broth and the cornstarch in a bowl
    6. Pour the broth into the meat mixture
    7. Add in the salt and pepper, ketchup and Worcestershire Sauce and stir to combine
    8. Turn the heat to low, simmer until the sauce thickens and liquid is reduced
    9. Place slices of Provolone Cheese over the meat mixture
    10. You can scoop p a serving when cheese has slightly melted and place on a bun OR
    11. You can stir the cheese into the meat mixture until it is melted and then scoop the mixture on the buns.
    12. Serve hot and enjoy a new spin on an old favorite!

Notes

Could I use thinly sliced steak rather than ground beef?
You could, however, remember that sloppy joes are a classic that is made with Ground beef. I wanted to stay as close to the original and still turn it into a Philly.
