Notes
Variations and Substitutions:
Cobbler can be made with all kinds of fruit, such as apples, blackberries, pears, or anything else you like. If you want to use fresh peaches in this recipe, slice 5 or 6 peeled fresh peaches and toss them in ½ cup of white sugar. Chill them for a few hours and you will find the juices and sugar combine to make their own syrup. If you don’t have self-rising flour, combine a cup of all-purpose flour with a teaspoon of baking powder, ¼ teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of salt. Want to double the recipe? If so, use a 13x9-inch baking dish instead of the square one.
