Original Cheese and Pea Salad

This is a dish that I remember fondly from my childhood. I had to beg my Mother to locate the recipe for me, since she could not remember what all she would put into the Pea Salad.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • ½ cup Sour Cream
  • ½ Red Onion diced
  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 8 slices bacon fried and crumbled
  • 4 cups Peas frozen and thawed
  • 1 ½ cups Cheddar Cheese cut into cubes

Method
 

  1. 1.In a large bowl combine the mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Apple Cider Vinegar, sugar and salt.
    2.Whisk together well using a whisk
    3.Add in the thawed peas, crumbled bacon, red onion and cubed cheese
    4.Gently stir to combine all ingredients
    5.Chill until it is time to serve. Garnish with shredded cheese and crumbled bacon.

Notes

Red Onion or Purple Onion?
You could use Red onion, although many people consider the Red Onion and the Purple onion to be one and the same. The Red Onion adds the perfect color.
Can I make this ahead of time?
If you want to make it in advance, put the salad together, except for the dressing portion. Add the dressing when you are ready to serve the Salad.
