Cocktail Nibblers are perfect for any occasion and are just that… salty, delicious cocktail nibblers!
I’m a huge fan of cocktails… okay, well maybe I should rephrase that. I used to be a huge fan of cocktails. I don’t really drink all that much anymore, but when I do… I enjoy some nibblers to go along with it. Something a little salty to with the something boozy is a perfect pair in my opinion.
When I was flipping through The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook and I ran onto the Cocktail Nibblers I knew that’s what I wanted to make because not only is it going to be good while parked in front of the ‘tube’ watching the final season premiere of Mad Men (Sunday, April 5th, 2015)… it’ll be good for sporting events and family gatherings. Perfect right?! Thanks Mad Men! 🙂
Well this nibblers recipe is quite simple and easy to whip up. Perfect for last minute party hosting or just a rough day and needing a munchy for our cocktail. We’re talking pretzels, peanuts, and chex cereal coated with Worchestershire, garlic, onion, and celery salt… and of course… butter makes the magic happen with the coating.
Let’s just say…. perfection and we’ll leave it at that!
- 2 cups pretzel sticks
- 3/4 cup peanuts
- 6 cups rice, corn and/or crispy cereal square (chex)
- 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon onion salt
- 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted
- Preheat oven to 250*F
- Break pretzels into small pieces and mix with peanuts and cereals on a large roasting pan.
- Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over mixture and combine thoroughly.
- Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Yields: approximately 8 cups of mix.
